What Is Zineryt?

Zineryt is a topical treatment used to combat acne. It contains erythromycin and zinc acetate, which help eliminate bacteria, a common cause of acne. It can help moderate acne clear up within 12 weeks when used correctly.

What Is Zineryt Used For?

Zineryt can be used to cure moderate acne. It is effective for many kinds of acne, including hormonal and cystic acne. It is applied topically and comes in the form of a cream. It helps clear up acne breakouts and reduce symptoms like pain, swelling, and redness. It is not usually necessary for use in milder forms of acne.

You should talk to your doctor or pharmacist about whether Zineryt is suitable for you to use. It is also a good idea to be aware of the symptoms of acne, which include:

  • Whiteheads
  • Blackheads
  • Red lumps
  • Pimples
  • Lumps under the skin
  • Cysts

If you have any of the above symptoms and are worried about your skin health, you should contact your doctor as soon as possible. While acne is rarely a serious condition for your overall health, it can cause distress and embarrassment. There are effective treatments like Zineryt available, so talking to your doctor or getting an online consultation can be invaluable.

How Does Zineryt Work?

Zineryt has two active ingredients that both help combat acne in different ways. Erythromycin is an antibiotic that is commonly used for treating acne. This antibiotic helps resolve the root cause by eliminating the bacteria responsible for irritating the skin, causing acne symptoms.

The other active ingredient in Zineryt is zinc, which reduces the inflammation of the skin and promotes healing. Zinc can also help reduce the amount of oil your skin produces, making your skin a less hospitable environment for the bacteria that cause acne to grow. Zinc has long been used to help wounds heal, so the amalgamation of zinc and antibiotics to treat acne is an effective combination.

How Long Does Zineryt Last?

Each bottle of Zineryt should last for the entirety of a course of treatment, which is around eight to 12 weeks. If your acne has not cleared up during this time, you should talk to your doctor about the next steps. They may recommend another course of Zineryt lotion if the results so far have been promising or try you on a different course of treatment.

Zineryt Alternatives

If Zineryt is not for you, there is a wide range of other treatments available. You should always consult a doctor before discontinuing or trying a new treatment.

You can buy a wide range of acne treatments here at Cloud Pharmacy. Here are some of the best alternatives to Zineryt:

  • Acnecide 5% Gel Benzoyl Peroxide – a topical treatment that contains benzoyl peroxide. Unlike Zineryt, it does not include an antibiotic element, which is often most effective when taken with oral antibiotics. It helps to break down acne and create healthier skin
  • Lymecycline – a topical treatment that contains antibiotics to eliminate the bacteria that cause acne. It prevents bacteria from producing the protein they need to survive. Unlike Zineryt, it does not include ingredients that help soothe the redness and other symptoms of acne
  • Oxytetracycline – a broad-spectrum oral antibiotic that can effectively eliminate different bacterial causes of acne
  • Duac Gel – works similarly to Zineryt, applied topically to help fight acne-causing bacteria and prevent recurrences

Zineryt or Duac

Duac contains clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide. It comes in 3% and 5% strengths and can be an effective form of acne treatment. Like Zineryt, Duac works topically and contains antibiotics. It also has skin drying properties, so it may cause dryness to the skin when used.

The treatment you choose will depend on your skin type and concern, so it is vital to get a professional medical opinion beforehand. You could try both but should not use them at the same time. Zineryt can be better for a gentler healing treatment, while Duac can offer protection against a build-up of oil that fosters bacteria.

Zineryt Reviews

Zineryt has mostly excellent reviews from users. It is generally highly praised for its effectiveness, with users often citing that Zineryt helped to clear up their acne breakouts whilst also reducing swelling and redness.

The overwhelming amount of feedback for Zineryt is positive, making it one of the ideal first choices for anyone trying to get their acne under control.

Can I Buy Zineryt Over the Counter?

All you will need to do is complete an online consultation that will be reviewed by one of our experienced medical professionals, after which you can have Zineryt delivered directly to your door.

How to Use Zineryt

Zineryt is a topical solution that comes in powder form. It will need to be mixed with a clear liquid to create the Zineryt solution. Both the powder and liquid will be provided when purchasing Zineryt. Once mixed, you can use the Zineryt solution for up to eight weeks, so you should only mix the solution when you are ready to use it.

The solution should be applied on and around the affected area. First, you should clean and dry the skin using gentle soap and warm water. Zineryt solution should be applied twice per day for as long as your doctor recommends. You should avoid contact with the eyes and mouth, if contact occurs, rinse thoroughly and contact your doctor if you are concerned.

How Long Does Zineryt Take To Work?

The length of time Zineryt takes to work can vary, but most users report seeing a difference in their acne within a week or even a few days. You should always continue treatment even if you don’t see results immediately. The medication needs time to stop the spread of bacteria, reduce inflammation and allow the skin to heal.

You will see the most improvement after a full course of treatment, between eight and 12 weeks. It may be beneficial to take photos of your skin each week to compare and identify the impact the solution is having.

Zineryt Side Effects

You may experience side effects when using Zineryt. This is normal and is not usually a cause for concern. Most users report no side effects or very mild cases. Everyone is different, so it is important to avoid comparing your experience directly to others.

Side effects are most common when first applying Zineryt. This is because the skin may require time to get used to the treatment. Some of the most common side effects include:

  • Stinging after application, though this is temporary
  • Redness
  • Dryness

These should clear up within a few days of use. It may be beneficial to ensure you have a suitable moisturiser to help tackle skin dryness if this causes you discomfort. You should also be aware of the signs of an allergic reaction and discontinue use if you think you are experiencing an allergic reaction. Allergic reaction symptoms include:

  • Wheezing and shortness of breath
  • Swelling
  • Coughing
  • Rashes or hives

If you experience severe symptoms like these, you should go to your nearest A&E or call 999 if you are experiencing difficulty breathing.

What does Zineryt Lotion contain?

Zineryt Lotion contains erythromycin (40mg/mL) and Zinc Acetate (12mg/mL). Erythromycin is an antibiotic that helps to reduce the number of acne-causing bacteria living on the skin, whilst Zinc Acetate helps the skin to contract and heal.

How do I use Zineryt Lotion?

In adults and children 18 years and over, you should make up the lotion and apply Zineryt to the affected areas of acne twice daily. You should cover the whole affected area, not just the individual spots. If you find that Zineryt causes irritation to your skin initially, reduce the applications to once daily until the irritation passes and then slowly increase back to twice daily applications. The normal treatment time with Zineryt is around 12 weeks.

Can I use other acne treatments when on Zineryt Lotion?

You should not combine Zineryt with antibiotic acne treatments such as Tetralysal (lymecycline), Minocin (minocycline) or Erythromycin tablets. Zineryt can be used with other acne creams (such as those containing benzoyl peroxide), however this is not usually necessary.

My skin is red and irritated after using Zineryt lotion, is this normal?

Redness and irritation of the treated area can occur when you use Zineryt for the first time. This is not usually serious and normally subsides within a week. During this time reduce the frequency of Zineryt application to once daily to allow your skin to recover and then slowly build up to using it twice daily.

Is Zineryt Lotion available for next day delivery?

Yes - If ordered before 3:30pm Monday to Friday, Zineryt Lotion is available for next day delivery.

How long does it take for Zineryt to have an effect?

Zineryt is normally used for a minimum of 10-12 weeks to treat acne. After this period you should be able to tell if it has helped to improve your skin and then make a decision as to whether they should be continued or not. Short courses of Zineryt for fewer than 10 weeks are usually less effective and is unlikely to give you an accurate picture of whether it will be an effective treatment to clear up your acne.

Can I wear makeup whilst using Zineryt?

Yes, you can wear makeup whilst using Zineryt. You should ensure that you wash and cleanse your face thoroughly before applying Zineryt to dry skin. The Zineryt solution should be allowed to dry before any make-up is applied to the affected areas of skin. It’s best to avoid oil-based makeup as it has been proven to be comedonal and can aggravate acne. This is because the excess oils, when mixed with the oil on the skin, can cause pores to block.
