Side Effects
One of the reasons that Doxycycline is so commonly prescribed is the fact that it's able to treat infections effectively without often causing side effects, however, it still is a prescription medication, so side effects are still possible. The most frequently experienced side effects patients report aren't normally serious, and can potentially include headaches, nausea, diarrhoea, skin rashes or dizziness. How do I use Doxycycline?
Doxycycline is a prescription-only medication. Always follow the advice of your doctor and read the patient information leaflet provided in the medication packet.
The capsules should be swallowed whole with a drink of water, with or without food, and it’s best to take them at the same time each day (to help you remember).
Both adults and children should take one dose of doxycycline per day starting a day or two before traveling to the area where malaria transmission occurs. They should take one dose per day while there, and for 28 consecutive days after leaving. The daily dosage for adults is 100mg per day.
