The internet has probably been one of the best inventions in the last century. Everyone and anyone can claim to be a medical professional on the internet, but at least some have the degree to prove it. This can cause some confusion for patients when they search for accurate reviews. You want a realistic, unbiased review on what you would expect to feel when you are on a new medication - both the positives and the negatives. Which is why here at CloudPharmacy we have already done that hard work for you, trailing through the agony aunts and fake professionals to give you a legitimate review on all things Zineryt. In this week's article, we take a look at what Zineryt is, how it works, what you may experience whilst taking it, and how the public reviewed it.
What is Zineryt and What is it Used For?
Zineryt is an effective prescription only medication (POM) for treating acne. Containing zinc, which helps to reduce antibiotic resistance build up and encourages the skin to heal and an antibiotic called erythromycin, which belongs to the macrolide group of antibiotics. Other medicines in this family include clarithromycin and azithromycin. Zineryt works by reducing the numbers of the skin bacteria which are associated with acne, which in turn causes erythromycin to reduce the inflammation and allows the skin underneath to heal properly. The Zinc component in Zineryt allows the chemical complex of the lotion to effectively be absorbed into the skin. So why have these two components joined forces to help target your acne? Well, erythromycin can sometimes cause redness, irritation, and drying of the skin - zinc is able to reduce these side effects.
How Do I Use Zineryt?
Some medicines are not suitable for people with certain conditions, and sometimes a medicine may only be used if extra care is taken. It is important that you inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and if you have ever had an allergic reaction to a medicine or a skin preparation. Zineryt is a prescription only medication (POM) and therefore should be used exactly as your clinician tells you to use it.
Wash and gently dry your skin, and then apply a thin layer of solution to the area where your spots occur. Use the solution twice a day, for best results use it in the morning and the evening. Wash your hands well after you have finished using it. Do not use the solution on any areas of skin which are sunburnt or sore. Also, try to avoid getting it on the sensitive areas of your skin in or around your nostrils, your eyes and your mouth. If you have been using a preparation for your acne that has caused your skin to peel, allow your skin to recover for a few days before you start using the solution.
As effective as Zineryt is at fighting the acne that you face, literally, it does however have its own side effects people may experience whilst using it. Just because a side effect is stated here doesn't mean that all people using this acne treatment will experience that or any side effect. Some side effects, whilst mainly rare and self limiting include: irritation or burning of the skin, itching of the skin, temporary redness and drying of the skin.
Amazingly, Zineryt scores very highly across all sectors of safety, price, efficacy, and side effect profile - with an average user rating of 4.8 stars out of 5. One user in particular said:
“It saved my life, it’s the only thing that’s ever worked and I’ve been searching my whole life for it, it gives me huge confidence and I can really rely on it”. Most users also go on to say that you do need patience, and that it “normally shows full results in about 4 weeks”.
Another strong believer in Zineryt had mentioned, “There’s nothing else I use that can clear up stubborn spots like zineryt, literally within 3 days there’s a noticeable difference and within 2 weeks my face is completely clear”. As mentioned, everyone's experience on Zineryt will not all be the exact same, but one thing that is clear is that Zineryt works well and it works quickly.
Now it is worth noting that Zineryt isn't the only lotion available on prescription to help fight acne. Other similar medications include Duac Gel (clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide) however it does not rate as highly by users in comparison to Zineryt.
- Many users have expressed that Zineryt works where other acne treatments have failed and that this topical acne treatment was the only one that had helped with their condition.
- Zineryt was found to work rapidly, with most users seeing improvements in their skin in as little as a week and some in just a few days.
- Users have also expressed that they believe Zineryt is a very effective treatment for acne and almost all users commented on how the lotion really does produce great results. Some even described Zineryt as being a 'miracle product'.
Duac Gel vs Zineryt
Zineryt is a topical lotion that is used in the treatment of acne. Zineryt contains to active ingredients, erythromycin and zinc acetate. A randomised, single-blind clinical trial comparing both duac and zineryt found that Duac had an earlier onset of action, with faster reduction in lesions compared to zineryt. After 1 week of use, roughly 31% of patients saw a reduction in acne when using Duac vs roughly 17% of patients whom were using Zineryt. The study concluded that both products are very effective in treating acne, however Duac may be better for compliance because people saw results earlier on.
