Cyproheptadine, a first-generation antihistamine with additional local anaesthetic properties, is the active ingredient in Periactin tablets, a medication used to relieve the symptoms of hay fever and other allergies. The tablets work by lessening the symptoms associated with an allergy. The symptoms include runny or blocked nose, sneezing, and itchy, watery eyes.
