Threadworms (pinworms) are small, white, thread-like worms that live in the gut and lay eggs around the anus, causing intense itching, particularly at night. They are extremely common in children but can affect anyone. Threadworms are easily treated with over-the-counter medication, but strict hygiene measures must be followed alongside treatment to prevent reinfection.
Important Safety Information
- Treat the entire household at the same time, even if not everyone has symptoms, as threadworms spread easily
- Wash all bedding, towels and nightwear on the first day of treatment
- Ensure everyone washes hands thoroughly, keeps nails short, and avoids scratching

Ovex Suspension provides the same mebendazole treatment in a banana-flavoured liquid, suited to children aged 2 and over or anyone who has difficulty swallowing tablets.

Do I need a second dose of Ovex?
A single dose of Ovex kills the adult threadworms but does not kill the eggs, which can take up to two weeks to hatch.
