Colic Relief for Babies
Colic is a common condition in young babies, typically starting within the first few weeks of life and usually resolving by the time the baby is three to four months old. It is characterised by excessive, inconsolable crying for no apparent reason, often in the late afternoon or evening. While the exact cause of colic is not fully understood, it may be related to trapped wind, digestive discomfort or temporary difficulty digesting lactose.
Cloud Pharmacy stocks a range of colic relief products from trusted brands, including Infacol, Dentinox, Colief and Woodward's Gripe Water. All products are dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy team.
Who Are These Products For?
- Babies experiencing excessive, inconsolable crying that may be related to colic
- Parents and carers looking for relief for trapped wind or digestive discomfort in infants
- If your baby has a fever, is not feeding, has a rash, vomiting, diarrhoea, or you are concerned about their health for any reason, seek medical advice from your GP or call NHS 111.
Available Treatments
Infacol Colic Relief Simeticone (85ml)
Infacol contains simeticone, which works by bringing together small trapped gas bubbles in the stomach into bigger bubbles that are easier for the baby to bring up as wind. It can be used from birth and is given before each feed. Infacol is one of the most widely used colic remedies in the UK.
Dentinox Colic Drops (100ml)
Dentinox Colic Drops also contain simeticone (activated dimeticone) and work in the same way as Infacol, helping to release trapped wind. They can be added to the baby's bottle or given directly before or after feeding. Suitable from birth.
Colief Infant Drops (7ml)
Colief contains lactase, a natural enzyme that breaks down lactose in milk. It is designed for babies whose colic may be related to temporary difficulty digesting lactose. Colief is added to breast milk or formula before feeding. It can be used from birth.
Woodward's Gripe Water (150ml)
Woodward's Gripe Water is a traditional remedy containing sodium hydrogen carbonate and dill seed oil, intended to relieve wind and gripe (stomach discomfort) in babies. Suitable from one month of age.

FAQ
How long does colic last?
Colic typically begins within the first few weeks of life and usually resolves by the time the baby is three to four months old. It is a self-limiting condition, but the crying can be very distressing for parents. If you are concerned or struggling to cope, speak to your health visitor or GP.
Can I use Infacol and Gripe Water together?
It is generally not recommended to use two colic products at the same time unless advised by your pharmacist or health visitor. Try one product for a few days to see if it helps before switching to an alternative.
