What is Erectile Dysfunction (ED)?

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is defined as when you are unable to keep or get an erection for sexual intercourse. It is most common in men of ages between 40 and 70, however, it can affect men of all ages to some degree. It is often associated with high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, and high cholesterol - all of which carry significant risk to a person’s health which is why it is important you speak to a medical professional if you feel you need some help regarding this matter, as it can sometimes be a cause of an underlying medical condition. However, most men can occasionally fail to keep or get an erection. This can usually be the result of excessive alcohol, stress, smoking, and tiredness. Men can also find difficulty maintaining an erection due to psychological issues such as anxiety, or “performance anxiety” as it is commonly referred to and in turn can actually make it more difficult to get an erection. Other psychological issues such as depression, previous sexual abuse, and fear of subsequent failure are also common causes.

Treatments for Erectile Dysfunction

The first line treatment, like several medical conditions, is to improve your lifestyle. By losing weight, limiting your alcohol intake and the amount you smoke, whilst increasing your diet and exercise can sometimes be enough to get rid of your ED. According to one Harvard study, just 30 minutes of walking a day was linked with a 41% drop in risk for ED.

However, if you have tried this for a few weeks and your symptoms show no signs of improving - there are several treatment options that are available to the UK. The most prevalent treatment is a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors, the most common drug of this class is called sildenafil, sold under the brand name Viagra. Sildenafil works by effectively relaxing and widening blood vessels therefore more blood can get into the penis causing it to become erect - you must need sexual arousal in order for sildenafil to work.

The internet is flooded with vast and varied companies offering “magic” penis pills, pumps, pulleys, lotions, and potions that all claim to have the best and fastest cure for your ED. The risk of obtaining substandard or counterfeit medication substantially increases when prescription-only products are purchased from unauthorised sources. One of the most dangerous of these tablets out there is a tablet called Kamagra.

What is Kamagra?

Kamagra is often sold online without a prescription to cure ED and is manufactured in India. It supposedly contains sildenafil citrate and is popular in the UK as it is regarded as a cheaper alternative to Viagra, Cialis or Levitra; it’s not. Kamagra is not licensed to be sold legally in the UK. It is not monitored or regulated by the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency) as the pills do not pass the quality control that all other drugs sold in the UK must pass, therefore it is difficult to know what they contain. The amount of active ingredient, if it contains any at all, could vary widely from what it advertises on the packet, and it could be bulked out with harmful additives. Medicines that are sold in the UK or the EU must be regulated.

Is Kamagra Safe?

If taken without a prescription, Kamagra can be very dangerous. Something that may appear safe for one person, may not be safe for another person. People are different, they lead different lifestyles, take different medications and have different medical conditions. Kamagra has not gone under suitable testing to ensure it will not interact with any other medications you are taking or aggravate any underlying health conditions. If you are buying medication from an illegal and unregistered website, then the people or person running that website will not likely have an issue with selling you counterfeit medication.

There are already many treatments for ED available through many regulated online pharmacies in the UK, so although it may be tempting to buy Kamagra, there will be more suitable and safer options to help you deal with ED.

Cloud Pharmacy offers a range of treatments for erectile dysfunction and are both registered and regulated by the GPhC and the MHRA. When ordering medicines from an online pharmacy, please make sure they are registered with the GPhC, and have appropriate MHRA registration. In summary, please avoid the plethora of websites and fake pharmacies that claim to offer a professional service and make sure to always look out for the certifications mentioned.
